Take them both down to 7.6.1 as there is no doubt that later firmware has more trouble and lower range with extend. Take a few screen shots and we might be able to figure it out.Īctually one of the issues here might be different firmware. this means only one wireless hop which makes it work alot better than two wireless hops. I do use ethernet on the other end to plug a WDLive TV. On a computer using Windows XP, hold the pointer over the wireless connection icon until you see your AirPort network name (SSID), and choose it from the list. although for the life of me I don't follow it. this all works fine but somehow it is connected to the 5ghz rather than 2.4ghz. However turning that off made the 2.4 GHz ALOT faster (100 Mbps down). You can then open the advanced log and see the wireless clients. I have had a slow connection when using the 2.4 GHz connection (5 Mbps down) when I had turned on 5 GHz as well on my AirPort Extreme. Keep the wireless password pure alphanumeric up to about 10 characters is plenty unless you are paranoid. This is the setup on the TC that is main WAP.ĭo not use any other security than WPA2 Personal. (Using TC but near enough to what you want). definitely use all names that are short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. where it can get enough signal to work well but still project the signal to an area that the other AE cannot reach. Recently, I have bought a second hand AirPort Extreme A1354 (4th Gen), which I like to add with my A1408 ( 5 th Gen) to extend my WIFI Signal to get better signal at the last end of my House. Apple TV is connected with 5GHZ with Airport A1408. However, when the Apple TV is close to Airport A1408 its streams flawlessly. Now, i have L shape house and my Existing Extreme A1408 cannot send enough WIFI signal to stream HD signal with my Apple TV. I had one Apple Airport Extreme A1408 (5th Gen).
